Para situar los orígenes de Saucony nos tenemos que remontar a finales del siglo XIX. Abraham Hyde un zapatero ruso que emigró a los EEUU en 1898 fundó la primera fábrica en Kutztown, Pensilvania. A partir de 1932 lanza su primer calzado atlético “pleasure skates” (patines de placer), para sus clientes que esquiaban sobre hielo, expandiéndose en poco tiempo a las botas roller, zapatos de baseball y de bowling. Durante los sesenta, la marca es escogida por la NASA para producir el calzado del primer astronauta americano que salió al espacio, unas botas que llevaban la etiqueta HYDE. Es entonces cuando Hyde Athletic Industries compra la compañía Saucony y se lanza al diseño de las zapatillas para correr, cautivando a los atletas del momento por su rendimiento y acumulando premios y reconocimientos.
Actualmente el ADN de Saucony es 100% running, la constante apuesta por el diseño y la tecnología y su focalización hacia el running ha permitido a Saucony convertirse en la marca referencia para atletas de élite y corredores aficionados.
En 2011 Saucony celebró el 30 aniversario de uno de sus iconos: el Jazz Original.
Desde que catapultaron al neozelandés Rod Dixon a la victoria en la maratón de Nueva York en 1983 con un tiempo record, las Jazz han conservado su esencia y se han reinventado para ser un icono de las actuales generaciones. Se han convertido en un referente y un calzado de culto para los apasionados de la moda y la estética retro.
